We are sure that all of you have already seen the famous film „Under the Tuscan sun“ shooted in Cortona – a small village in Tuscany, very charming and full of life. So we found a really nice accomodation to discover Cortona and the beauty of that part of Tuscany.
This fabulous country house is located between the Tuscany hills in Cortona at the end of the beautiful treed avenue . There are not many other locations that give you such a view of the valley.
It is part of an 8 hectare farm with olive trees and woods; it’s a perfect place for walking to discover nature. From windows and the gardens, you can see an unbelievable view of Valdichiana, Lake Trasimeno and Montepulciano. The colors change with the seasons: the green of spring, the yellow of the grain in summer, the red of autumn and the white of the snow in winter. Guests can spend their time looking at the unforgettable sunsets.
This agriturismo is composed of two independent houses recently restructured to join tradition and modern comfort. Tiled floors, wooden ceilings, stone walls and wrought iron beds are perfectly combined with satellite tv and free wi-fi. Free laundry facilities are also available.
Houses are perfect for a large family or a group of friends who want to spend a holiday together in Cortona. It is suitable for up to 10 people. In the low season, (November to March), it is possible to rent one house for a few people or small family.
The first house accommodates 6 people on two floors. On the main floor there is a living room with fireplace, kitchen with gas stove and an electric oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, stone sink, one master bedroom and one bathroom. Downstairs there are two other bedrooms (one master and one a one double) with two bathrooms, each having it’s own separate entry. In all the bedrooms and the livingroom, there is a heater and an air conditioner. Wooden furniture, in old Tuscan style with attention for details, helps maintain the old world feel.
The second house accommodates up to 4 people. There is a big room with a kitchen. In the kitchen, there is a gas stove with an electric oven, a microwave oven, refrigerator with freezer and a dishwasher. There is one master bedroom with bathroom and a double with bathroom. Also, in this house there are heaters and air conditioners in each bedroom and the livingroom.
Nearby are facilities such as tennis and horseback riding, bicycling. There are beautiful trekking paths in the mountains or in the countryside walking along an old roman street.
The farm house has been owned by four generations of the same family. They prepare many typical Tuscan products. Guests can taste and buy their products such as extra virgin igp olive oil, sheep cheese pecorino (fresh or aged), wine and vinsanto.
All the products are prepared following traditional methods without using preservatives, dyes or industrial methods. Especially the cheese is made without pasteurized milk and with the process of curding. The aging of the cheese is from 15 days to 12 months, and it’s made in a fresh place with wooden boards.
They use natural conservants like olive oil, ash, walnut leaves or old clay jars for long aging and preservation. Most of the products are shown in the reception area.
Nearby there is a farm where is sheep breeding. A herd of the sheep were used in the film “Under the Tuscan Sun” based on the autobiographical book written by Frances Mayes.
